My World Tuesday: A Cookoff in DeLand, Florida
October 18, 2010 DeLand, FL 32720, USA
Saturday we attended the annual Chili Cook-off in Deland, Florida. We have attended this event every year for about 5 years now. It's a wonderful event with live music, beer, a kids' activity section and, of course, lots of chili!
Florida History: Nation's Oldest House
October 6, 2010 St Augustine, FL 32084, USA
Today we visited the nation's oldest city, St. Augustine, FL. I know we were just there in March but if I were to go there a million times, I would never see all there is to see or learn all there is to learn. I have loved that city since I first visited in 1994! We have finally been seeing a peek into Florida Fall and the breezes were beckoning me to St. Augustine.
Speaking of Lizards
July 22, 2009

Speakin' of Florida lizards, let's talk about gators or, as they're more commonly and less southernly called, alligators (from the spanish el lagarto which means "the lizard") . Yes, those big, scary, left-overs from the dinosaur age. In speaking with my Michigan friend, "Mumma", I've found she is both amused and bemused at our comfort with these creatures. We swim in lakes and ponds and rivers with gators lying up on the banks and beaches of said bodies of water. We also hunt and eat them. And in Florida.. we also have an attraction dedicated to them.
Speaking of Overcooked.. Let's look at McDonald's
June 30, 2009

Yesterday the children and I were in Orlando where we visited the Mcdonald's which bills itself as World's Largest Entertainment McDonald's & PlayPlace. Twenty-three years ago, I worked at this particular McDonald's. Trust me. It's not the same place.
